This is a preschool group for ages 3-5 years.  Parents and children participate together. The children find their singing voices, participate in movement and singing games, and learn about worship.  This group does not sing in Sunday worship on a regular basis, but have the chance to show the congregation what they have learned from time to time.  Sounds of Joy practice weekly on Thursday evenings from 6:15 - 6:45 PM.  This group is limited to 15 children.

Practice:  Every Thursday evening - 7:00-8:00 p.m.    September to May

Program:  Members sing in church most Sundays.  By rehearsing the hymns and responses, they become familiar with a rich variety of Church music, with the order of service, and with the seasons of the liturgical year.  They also learn to become worship leaders.  Once a month this choir sings an anthem, by itself, or with the Adult Choir.   Members also enjoy preparing musical plays.

This choir is for ages 6-8 years and meets every Thursday evening from 6:15-6:45 p.m.  Rehearsals include time for singing with movement, exploring the singing voice, learning hymns, playing musical games and preparing to help lead in worship once a month.  They are encouraged to participate in the Christmas pageant and the spring musical.  Parents are asked to be present for rehearsals.

Instrumentalists are also welcome to join in the ministry of music. From time to time, musicians who play string or wind instruments, drums, guitar, organ or piano, enhance Kanata United Church's worship. They have formed a small ensembles and even full orchestras. For more information about one of the instrumental groups speak to Josh Zentner-Barrett, Director of Music or call the Church Office.
